A Better Place to Wake Up

We love Austin.

Not just the Austin of live music, great restaurants, bluebonnets (I like Indian Blankets better), swimming holes, and breakfast tacos. We love the people who make this place what it is. Alright, alright, alright.  The entrepreneurs, teachers, nurses, musicians, tradespeople, artists, parents, grandparents, neighbors, and friends who wake up every morning and make Austin a little better..

We believe that getting a great night's sleep can not only change your day - it can change your life. When you sleep better, you have a little more energy, a little more patience, a little more creativity, and a whole lot more ability to enjoy the people and places they love.  Conversely, bad sleep makes us all just a bunch of giant 2 year olds.

It Started With 2%

From the beginning, we wanted Austin Premier Mattress to be part of the community it was born in.

We started by committing 2% of our revenue to organizations right here in Austin. We believe businesses should be part of the communities that support them. We wanted our success to help create success for other people, too.

Today, we're proud to partner with Community First! Village, a remarkable Austin community created by Mobile Loaves & Fishes for people coming out of chronic homelessness.

And this one means a lot to us.

Community First! Village

Alan and Trica Graham founded Mobile Loaves & Fishes in 1998, leaving behind a career in real estate development to start delivering meals to homeless men and women out of a green minivan with four friends.  I dont think they dressed in unitards and capes but it was truly heroic.

What began as sack lunches grew into a nationally recognized ministry, and Graham went on to become the visionary behind Community First! Village, a master-planned Austin neighborhood providing affordable, permanent housing and real community for people coming out of chronic homelessness.  The place is amazing.

Community First! Village is much more than a place to live. It's a neighborhood built around a simple but powerful idea: People need and thrive in community.

The Village provides affordable, permanent housing along with places to gather, work, worship, eat, create, volunteer, and simply be part of something bigger than themselves. It has homes, gardens, walking paths, gathering spaces, community businesses, and programs designed to help neighbors rediscover purpose and build relationships.

As Mobile Loaves & Fishes puts it, the focus is relational. It's about connecting people rather than simply providing a transaction or a roof.

And Yes, They Have Great Mattresses

We're proud to partner with Community First! Village to help provide mattresses for the people who call the Village home.

And the mattress? It's pretty awesome.

It is called the Walker Plush, named after the legendary Austin musician Jerry Jeff Walker.

Jerry Jeff Walker helped define the spirit of Austin—independent, creative, a little unconventional, and always ready for a good story. 

The people who live at Community First! deserve a great night's sleep just like everybody else. They deserve to climb into bed at the end of the day, get comfortable, and wake up ready for whatever tomorrow brings.

We Live Here, Too

Austin isn't simply the market we serve. It's our home.  It is where I was born.

We shop here. We eat here. We work here. We raise our families here. We have friends here. We run into people we know at the grocery store, at restaurants, at games, and around town.

So when you walk into Austin Premier Mattress, we don't really think of you as a customer - it is more like talking to a neighbor.

When a neighbor needs a mattress, we want to help them find the right one. When someone needs advice, we'll give them our honest opinion. When we can support an organization doing something good in our community, we want to be involved.

That's what being part of Austin means to us.

And if we can help Austin sleep a little better, live a little better, and wake up a little happier, then we're doing exactly what we hoped to do when we opened our doors.

We don't just want to sell mattresses in Austin. We want to help make Austin a better place to wake up.
