The 100-Day Comfort Exchange: Why We Do It This Way

We do the comfort exchange because we know we will get it right by listening and trusting our process.

We carry three brands, on purpose: our own Austin Premier Line, Aireloom, and Tempur-Pedic. Every mattress on our floor was chosen deliberately, covering a real range of feel, support, and construction, because we believe between those three lines, there's a mattress that will genuinely solve anyone's sleep problem. That's a smaller, more curated selection than you'll find at a lot of stores. We built it that way because it lets us actually know every mattress we sell, inside and out, instead of gesturing at a wall of options and hoping something sticks.

99.5%

We get it right on the first try 99.5% of the time. And it's all about the process. Every person who walks through our door gets a real conversation: how you sleep, what's bothering you, what you've tried before, what didn't work about your last mattress. Then we actually put you on the mattresses that make sense for your answers.

That process takes a bit longer than an express version. Getting it right the first time is the point of doing this the slow, careful way. (Maybe we can compare it to good barbecue — it just doesn't take quite as long.)

But Sometimes You Need to Switch, and That's Fine

Even with a process that good, sleep is personal, and bodies surprise us sometimes. That's the whole reason the 100-day comfort exchange exists — a backstop for the rare cases where the first mattress isn't quite it. If something's not working within your first 100 nights, we'll get you into something that will.

Here's how it works. You get 100 days, but we want you to give it a real run for at least the first 30. Then, if you need to swap, you get full credit for the mattress you originally purchased, applied entirely toward whatever you're exchanging into. You're not eating the cost of a mistake and starting over from zero. The only thing you're responsible for is a pickup and delivery fee to swap the old mattress out and the new one in. There's no restocking fee or any other charges. Beyond that, you only pay the difference for the new mattress itself, not the whole price all over again.

Why We Built It This Way

We make the exchange simple enough that nobody dreads calling us about it.

We built the comfort exchange the way we did because we're not afraid of it getting used. When you're only wrong half a percent of the time, you make sure that half a percent doesn't cost your customer anything extra. It's a sign we're confident enough to make the rare miss painless.

That's really the whole philosophy. We do the work up front — real conversations, real product knowledge, real attention to how you actually sleep — so that almost nobody ever needs the safety net. And for the handful who do, using it shouldn't feel like a hassle.

The Short List

We actually keep a running list of the mattresses that have come back through an exchange — swapped out for something else during a customer's 100 nights. At any given time, that list runs somewhere between two and ten mattresses.

We sell those exchanged mattresses at a discount. We know the story behind every single one. We know why that mattress didn't work out for that particular sleeper.

When someone buys one of these off our short list, we can tell you exactly why it came back, which means we can also tell you honestly whether it might be exactly right for you instead. Typically it's the one you picked in the showroom, and we just happen to have it as a return. Or, you're buying for a guest room or a kid, and getting the deal is a bigger benefit than getting a precise feel.

It's the direct result of that meticulous process up front — the real conversations, the real questions, the actual matching of person to mattress instead of person to whatever's on sale. When you do that well, consistently, you simply don't generate a large exchange list.

Buy with confidence. If somehow it's not quite right, we'll make it right — full credit toward something better, just a pickup and delivery fee, and you only ever pay for the mattress you're actually going home with. It seems like the right way to do it.
